11 June - 15 June 2018
Ampleforth Abbey, Byland Abbey, Rievaulx Abbey, Stanbrook Abbey, Durham Cathedral and Ushaw College in North Yorkshire.
Saint Benedict has much to teach us about life in the 21st Century. He continues to inspire countless men and women to live the monastic life but his message is as relevant for all who are trying to live the Gospel in their lives. In this retreat we reflected upon some of the wonderful insights contained within the Rule of Saint Benedict and learnt how they can be applied today.
The retreat included 2 days at Ampleforth Abbey under the guidance of our Spiritual Director, Fr Chad Boulton OSB; Ampleforth Abbey and Apple orchard tour, trips to the Benedictine convent of Stanbrook Abbey, the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey and Byland Abbey, a private tour of Durham Cathedral built by the Benedictines from 1093 to 1133, and a private tour of Ushaw College the former seminary now belonging to the University of Durham.
