Benedictine Spirituality Retreat - A Way Of Living
Northern England Pilgrimage
17 June - 22 June 2019
Ampleforth Abbey, Stanbrook Abbey, Ruins of Rievaulx Abbey, Durham Cathedral and Ushaw College, Lindisfarne
Saint Benedict has much to teach us about life in the 21st Century. He continues to inspire countless men and women to live the monastic life but his message is as relevant for all who are trying to live the Gospel in their lives. In this retreat we will reflect upon some of the wonderful insights contained within the Rule of Saint Benedict and see how they can be applied today.
The retreat will include 2 days at Ampleforth Abbey under the guidance of the monastic community; a tour of Ampleforth Abbey, a visit to the nuns of the Benedictine Monastery at Stanbrook Abbey, the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey, a private tour of Durham Cathedral built by the Benedictines from 1093 to 1133, a tour of Ushaw College the former seminary now belonging to the University of Durham, and Lindisfarne also known as Holy Island where St. Aidan established a monastery in 635AD.
